West Papua needs our Help!
Dear Friend of West Papua,
I am writing to you with my heart full of sadness, urging you ask your
Government to act now to help my people!
Today the Indonesian Military has launched a ferocious wave of attacks
against Papuan civilians in the highland town of Wamena. Eight people
are confirmed dead so far and 17 injured. Reports state that hundreds of
people have fled the town and are now hiding in the hills surrounding
it, as Indonesian military continue their offensive.
We urgently need UN peacekeepers to be sent. More than 500,000 civilians
have been slaughtered by the Indonesian Military since 1963, and I fear
the current massacre will be alike to the Santa Cruz massacre the
Indonesian Military committed in East Timor.
On behalf of my people I am asking YOU to raise your voice right now as
loud and clear as you can.
Please call your local and national media organisation. Contact your
local MP to urge support. Call the Indonesian Embassy in your country
and tell them to stop their military operations against a defenceless
people.
My people demand nothing more than the freedom to think, the freedom to
move, the freedom to act, and the freedom to choose their own destiny
without fear of killing, rape, torture, intimidation, murder or oppression.
Please hear my peoples cry at this most critical time.

Dear friends,
We wrote to you recently with the tragic news of mass killings of West Papuans by the Indonesian security forces. Since then, at least five more people have been killed, and the chair of the West Papua National Committee has been arrested. We also have detailed and disturbing reports of arrests and torture of peaceful demonstrators calling for an end to the violence and re-iterating their demands for the right to self-determination.
Friends, we need your help now more than ever. Please take a moment to sign this petition calling for an end to the military offensive taking place in West Papua. Some of the latest news and videos can be found at West Papua Media Alerts.
If you have a further five minutes we would encourage you to write to your MP asking for their support for an end to the violence and for them to join the International Parliamentarians for West Papua - a growing number of parliamentarians around the world supporting the right to self-determination. You can find details for your MP here and of the IPWP here.
Please respond to my people's cry...thank you.

Dear friend of West Papua,
It is with a tear in my eye, that I inform you of the assassination earlier today of the leader of the West Papua National Committee, Mako Tabuni. He was shot dead by Indonesian police when they raided student homes in the Abepura district of Jayapura.
There is now indiscriminate shooting taking place on the streets of Jayapura, with residents fleeing in fear. On behalf of my people, I am urging the international community to wake up and help us. We URGENTLY need a UN peacekeeping force to be put in place and sent to the region. My people are danger in the hand of the Indonesian Military and Police.
I am calling on each and everyone of you to today take an action to help the silenced people living in fear in West Papua. Please try and contact your MP today and push your Government to ask for a UN peacekeeping force to be sent to West Papua.
What we are seeing is a systematic genocide against the indigenous people of West Papua. I condemn the Indonesian President, who is ultimately responsible for the actions of the military in West Papua.
Please help us and hear my peoples cry for help. All they want is to be able to live their life with a smile and five decades of being filled with tears.
